Three warm-up progressions for touch: modified Mikan drill with inside-hand spin, wide hook, and side-to-side cradles. Each progression is 10 makes with each hand. - Use the inside hand to put spin on the backboard in the Mikan variation. - Wide hooks test and develop soft touch. - Cradling the ball lets you use the full arm to create more backboard spin. - Complete 10 makes with each hand for each progression.

Action Sequence
Two-foot change-of-direction finishing drill. Options include baseline finish, middle finish after between-the-legs, and a two-foot floater; repeat the six-shot series three times with a cradle on layups, then switch sides. - Start with two cuff dribbles, bring the ball to the hip, then hit across, between, behind, into a hesi. - Use a two-foot jump to change direction toward the baseline or middle based on the defender. - For the floater option, use a wrap dribble and stop short. - Redo the series with a cradle on layups; complete 3 rounds of 6 shots (18 shots total).
One-hand control drill: pound dribble into an overhead gather, pushing speed and height. Complete 10 each way. - Pound the ball and gather it overhead with one hand. - Push your speed and height on every rep. - Losing the ball is okay if you are working at your limit.
Applied one-hand finish progressions after showing the ball: cradle finish, euro-step counter, and inside-hand finish. Each progression is 10 total. - Start facing the sideline, split the feet on a pound, and take a tight angle around the cone. - Show the ball to bait the defender into jumping before cradling and finishing. - In the euro option, show the ball then counter to the other side. - In the last progression, finish with the inside hand; 10 total each.
Same-foot, same-hand layup series with three progressions: two-dribble angle finish, one-dribble underhand floater, and reverse layup off two or three dribbles. Do five makes of each. - Make any creative move at the first cone, then cover ground with two dribbles around the second cones. - Finish with the same foot and same hand as the layup. - For the second option, use one dribble and finish further away like an underhand floater. - For the last option, take two to three dribbles into a reverse layup with the same footwork. - If you have trouble reaching the rim with limited dribbles, move the cones in. Common mistakes: Trying to cover too much ground with limited dribbles; move the cones in if you cannot reach the rim.
Free-form layup drill: catch the ball wherever it comes off the rim or net and lay it back up from that spot. Complete 15 makes off one foot and 15 off two feet. - Let the rebound decide the shot; choose whichever layup comes to mind. - Be creative and try new ideas. - Get 15 makes off one foot and 15 makes off two feet.
Off-hand only floater drill: one-foot baseline floater, one-foot middle floater, then repeat both off two feet. Rotate until 20 total makes, then repeat on the other side. - Use only your off hand for every shot. - One-foot floater going to the baseline, then one-foot floater to the middle. - Repeat both shots off two feet. - Keep rotating until you make 20 total, then switch sides.
