Torso Rotation & Lateral Spacing Block Drill

Place a foam block beside the player's torso to enforce optimal lateral distance between the body and the contact point. The player executes full unit turn and uncoils through the trunk without crowding the ball or striking the side block with the arm.

Key points

  • Maintain appropriate lateral distance between the torso and the hitting zone
  • Coil and uncoil the core and hips to drive rotational power rather than using solely the arm
  • Keep the swing path cleanly outside the side block to eliminate jamming at impact

Common mistakes

Crowding the ball with a bent, jammed elbow tucked into the ribs, preventing full rotational release.
