Foam Block Obstacle Forehand Lift & Net Clearance Drill

Two large foam blocks or hurdles are placed directly in front of the player. A coach hand-drops the ball in front, and the player must dip low and lift the ball over the obstacles with topspin to develop proper launch angle and deep court trajectory.

Key points

  • Bend knees to get the racket well below the contact point before swinging
  • Brush aggressively upward to create a steep launch angle clearing the high obstacle blocks
  • Generate topspin to pull the lifted ball down into the court with deep penetration

Common mistakes

Driving the ball too flat and straight, causing the shot to crash directly into the obstacles or drop into the net.
