Directional First Touch & Pole Turn Passing

Receive a ground pass at the central pole marker, take an intentional directional first touch around the pole to open hips, and play a crisp pass out to the opposite teammate.

Key points

  • Check shoulder to observe space before receiving the ball.
  • First touch must actively bypass the pole into open space.
  • Deliver accurate passing weight directly into the receiver's front foot.

Common mistakes

Heavy first touch that runs away from the player or taking the touch directly into the pole.
