🔥🔥 My Two Best Chipping Drills [GET UP AND DOWN] Every Time!Coaching notes
This drill is designed to foster body movement while promoting feel, softness, and play in the club by isolating the trail hand grip and supporting the upper arm.
Before you start
- Take your trail hand and choke all the way down on the grip of the club.
- Place your other hand up to support your bicep or the top of your trailing arm.
Movement sequence
- Start to make some little practice strokes with this one-handed, supported grip setup.
- Pop some little chip shots out onto a good lie without a specific target.
- Return to a normal two-handed grip after practicing.
Key points
- Feel how your body must physically move to execute the chip (as chipping with only arms/hands is nearly impossible here).
- Notice the important feeling of softness and play in the club for proper rhythm.
Common mistakes
Attempting the drill on a poor or difficult lie. Trying to manipulate the club solely with the hands instead of allowing natural body movement and club play.
Practice notes
Ensure you have a good lie for this drill. Transition back to a standard two-handed grip after getting a feel for the rhythm and body motion.
