Split-Step, Pivot Turn & Movement Recovery Drill

Execute an active split step in the ready position, instantly pivot and turn the outside foot while coiling the upper body, sprint to a self-tossed ball, strike the forehand from the power position, and immediately perform a recovery cross-step back to center court.

Key points

  • Land lightly from the split step and immediately pivot the outside foot toward the ball direction
  • Coil the upper body simultaneously with the first pivot step rather than running chest-forward
  • Self-drop the ball on the run, plant, hit cleanly, and execute dynamic crossover footwork to recover

Common mistakes

Side-shuffling sluggishly toward the ball with hips square instead of pivoting the outside foot and running naturally.
