2 min 9 sec0:00 / 2:09
Included in this routine
You Will Never Hit Your Driver The Same Again | 3 5's DrillCoaching notes
Establishes proper spine tilt and head position behind the golf ball at setup so the player can strike upward with an optimal angle of attack rather than chopping down.
Before you start
- Position the golf ball on the inside of the left foot.
- Take a stance slightly wider than shoulder width for power.
- Stand straight up and down with fingertips even on both thighs.
Movement sequence
- Tilt the upper body back slightly while letting the hips move forward.
- Slide the fingertips of the right hand down the right leg until they are just above the right knee.
- Allow the left hand to move up the left leg as the right hand slides down.
- Maintain this body angle throughout the swing to stay behind the ball and deliver a shallow attack angle.
Key points
- Head remains well behind the golf ball during the downswing and impact.
- Right fingertips rest just above the right knee at setup.
- Shoulders are tilted backward away from the target.
Common mistakes
Getting the head too far forward or over the golf ball at setup or impact. Chopping down steeply on the ball or backing up out of posture and flipping.
