Before you start
- Be in range to throw an initial jab
Movement sequence
- Throw a jab
- Lean back to defend against the opponent's counter punch
- Step forward and throw a 1-2-1 combination (jab, cross, jab) while cutting down the distance
Key points
- Maintain rhythm during the forward 1-2-1 push (back, back, back / forward flow)

Failing to step forward as the opponent retreats, missing the distance for the 1-2-1
