Step-In Jab & Reset (Southpaw)

Switch to a southpaw stance with the right foot forward; step forward six inches with the right lead foot while firing a straight right jab, then spring back.

Key points

  • Land the right lead foot on the ball of the foot simultaneously with the jab extension
  • Keep the rear left leg flexed to maintain balanced 50/50 weight distribution
  • Retract the right hand straight back to the guard immediately after contact

Common mistakes

Losing stance balance due to unfamiliarity with the non-dominant southpaw lead.
